Opening of The Exchange and Newlyn Art Gallery
On July 6th 2007 the
eagerly awaited new gallery on the site of the old telephone exchange in
Penzance opened with exhibitions by Hassan Hajjaj and Eloisa Cartonera.
The Newlyn Gallery was also opened to the public for the first time since its refurbishment, with an installation in the main gallery and a video in the new, cleaner, downstairs space by Christine Borland. The exhibitions on both sites were part of 'Social Systems', curated by Cornwall-based arts organisation: ProjectBase.
